Eventing explained
Eventing, also known as horse trials or three-day eventing, is an equestrian triathlon where horse and rider pairs compete in three phases: dressage, cross-country, and show jumping.
It's a demanding sport that tests the horse's athleticism, speed, stamina, and the rider's accuracy, control, and bravery.
The rider with the lowest overall score (accumulated penalties) across all three phases wins the competition.
Eventing is one of three equestrian disciplines in the Olympic Games.
At the Olympic Games 2024 Paris the best Dutch performance ever was made by Janneke Boonzaaijer and her horse Champ de Tailleur. They became individually 9th!
